Toys in the Box

A cluster of dolls and figures peer out from a worn box labeled “TOYS,” their presence caught somewhere between playfulness and quiet disquiet. Rendered in black and white, the scene strips away color and nostalgia, leaving behind texture, shadow, and expression. At the center, a pale face framed by dark hair and streaked makeup draws the eye—its downward gaze suggesting stillness, or perhaps something more watchful beneath the surface.

The surrounding figures blur slightly into the background, creating a layered composition that feels both contained and unsettled. What should be familiar—objects of childhood and imagination—takes on a heavier tone, as if time and context have shifted their meaning.
