Hello! My journey into the world of art, whether with charcoal, paint, or creating random thoughts that leave others scratching their heads, began later in life than many others. Looking for an outlet for anxiety, depression, and distress, I turned to martial arts, namely jiujitsu, and painting. This two pronged attack on mental health issues has proven to be just what the doctor ordered. Jiujitsu helps me focus under constant threat and stress, calming me as I formulate a plan on the fly to overcome bad positions. Painting helps me to accept small mistakes made by myself or others. It has helped me to see the beauty in odd.
After finding that I am not horrible at painting, I decided I would make my art available for sale. The sale of the art will become art itself, as each purchase will help to fund a large creative and educational adventure. My family and I are planning a two-year move to Europe in order to provide our youngest daughter a culturally immersive experience to strengthen her education. This trip will introduce her to as many cultures, languages, religions, histories, and people as possible, and will prepare her to become empathetic to, and cooperative with, the people she shares the world with.
